Matt Damon a toady for giant corporation?

Executive summary:

Say it ain’t so!  The theme of Matt Damon’s new movie, Promised Land, is the opposition to natural gas fracking.  But what is most interesting is that the movie was financed by a company owned by the UAE government.  The UAE is a member of OPEC and has a big stake in the USAs continued reliance on fossil fuels.  The UAE is also a big competitor with NG companies in the USA.

Instead of a soda ban...

Executive Summary:

Various government entities have or are considering banning or taxing sugary drinks.  This, IMHO, removes yet another one of our liberties and such regulation would be better left to be regulated by parents or self.

Instead, the Feds should consider ending sugar and corn subsidies.  These subsidies benefit 5000 wealthy farmers, keep sugar prices artificially high, and costs the economy an estimated $3.5 billion and 20,000 jobs.  It impacts not only soda prices, but candy and (most important to me) rum prices.
